THE EMPACK AND LOGISTICS & AUTOMATION TRADE FAIR PRESENTS ITS CONFERENCE PROGRAMME

  • Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Iberdrola, Bosch Service Solution, Kaiku, Florette, Cepsa and Grupo Uvesco, among other experts from the sector, will meet on 28 and 29 February at the Empack Congress and Logistics & Automation Bilbao, the only packaging and logistics trade fair in northern Spain.
  • Once again this year, the fair has the backing of the Basque Government and SPRI and the collaboration of the main institutions such as the Port of Bilbao – UniportBilbao, the Basque Logistics and Mobility Cluster (MLC), the Basque Institute of Logistics and Sustainable Mobility (IVL- LEE), the Basque Food Cluster, Packnet, ACLIMA, Asetrabi, MercaBilbao, Aparkabisa, among others.

6 February 2024.- The Empack and Logistics & Automation Fair brings together the latest in packaging, packaging, intralogistics and transport on 28 and 29 February at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, with more than 70 exhibiting brands and 50 expert speakers making up the Congress programme.

The programme includes thematic conferences, round tables and an inspirational session, ‘Thinker or doer, you decide’, given by Loida Primo, entrepreneur, TEDX speaker, mentor and creator of the EINCOA method.

SUSTAINABILITY, CIRCULARITY AND THE CHALLENGES OF EVERYDAY LIFE

Sustainable innovation in packaging, the challenges faced by companies in the sector and circularity will occupy a large part of the contents of one of the two conference rooms. Belén García, director of Packnet, Olga Martín, general director of ACLIMA, Virginia Matesanz, director of Innovation of the Basque Food Cluster, Ruth Díez, Agroalimentary coordinator of Tekniker, Inés Alonso, head of Market Development of the Circularity Area of Tecnalia, Sonia Muro, head of Florette, Isabel Goyena, director of Envalora and Manuel Esteban Tortola, Packaging and POS Activation Manager of Cepsa will share the latest trends in this area with the attendees.

In addition, the Basque Food Cluster will be taking an in-depth look at the food sector, and specifically at the advances towards safe, sustainable and competitive packaging. It will be through a conference, moderated by its director, Jon Ander Egaña, with the participation of María Bescos, Head of Sustainability for Packaging at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Santiago Ortega, Purchasing Director at Kaiku, Arantza Madariaga, Technical Director at ITENE, Amaia Ortiz de Elguea, Head of Sustainability at the Uvesco Group, Irati Bejarano, Innovation Projects Manager at the BFC and Arantza Madariaga, Director at Elika Fundazioa.

DIGITALISATION, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, SECURITY AND ELECTRIFICATION

Artificial intelligence, monitoring of logistics infrastructures, storage systems, benefits of digital E-CRM, logistics with renewable gases… are some of the main topics of the 9th edition of the Basque Country Logistics Conference, organised by the Mobility and Logistics Cluster of the Basque Country (MCL) and in which experts from Sener, Vpo Ingenieria, AR Racking, Tecnalia, JSV, ClCircular and Igarle will participate.

Other topics such as safety, savings and digitalisation in fleets will be addressed by Adriá Martínez, Sales Director of Mapon, and by Carlos González de Ubieta, Business Development Manager of Bosch Service Solutions, who will specifically analyse the latest technological trends and processes to improve safety in lorry parking in Europe.

The Port of Bilbao – UniportBilbao will also show, through an interesting practical session, how IP analytical vision technological solutions can help logistics and industrial companies in such diverse and vital areas as safety and occupational risk prevention. The conference will be moderated by Inmaculada Ugarteche, director of UniportBilbao, and will be attended by Fabien Leger, head of the IP Video & Analytics Department at CANON Spain, and Alfonso Allende, Sales Manager at Axis Communication.

With regard to electrification, Eneko Conde, driver and team manager in the FIA ECORally CUP, KOCO MOTOR SPORT, together with the Basque Institute of Logistics and Sustainable Mobility, will explain to the attendees the process they have undergone towards electrification, the steps they have taken, changes in mentality… a different and interesting approach for the current situation of freight transport.

Iberdrola, through Begoña Cubian, Senior Sustainable Mobility Analyst in the Innovation and Sustainability Department and together with Arturo Pérez de Lucía, Technical Director of the Business Association for the Development and Promotion of Electric Mobility (AEDIVE), will also present the opportunities that the new European regulations and the needs of logistics operators represent for the electricity sector.

In addition, the conference programme will include presentations by the Transfesa Logistics Group and Ocean Transport on the role of rail freight transport and the importance of air transport in international trade, respectively. Also noteworthy is the block dedicated to robotics, offered by GMV and Camp Tecnológico, the CEL conference on the Plagedilog project and the interventions of Inology, CBRE and Incotrans on digitisation in international freight transport, the impact on supply chains and new assets for green investment, among other issues.
